Championship Regulations 2009

ARTICLE ONE
The TOP PART WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP is being organised by the west coast committee and will be hereafter referred to as the Championship Promoters. There are 7 nominated rounds for 2009.
1.    22/02/09     Birr Stages
2.    29/03/09    Circuit of Kerry
3.    31/05/09    Circuit of Munster
4.    30/08/09    Galway Stages
5.    20/09/09    Clare Stages
6.    15/11/09    Kerry Mini Stages
7.    28/12/09    Limerick Mini Stages

Starters point will be awarded.   
For every event you start you will be awarded one point, all starters points will count for final results.    Best five results will count for final results.
  TO QUALIFY FOR AN AWARD EACH COMPETITOR             MUST START AT LEAST FOUR EVENTS.
ARTICLE TWO
If through Force Majeure any of the above dates are altered or an event is cancelled the Championship Promoters reserve the right to either accept a change of date, substitute a nominated event, cancel that particular round, or alter the number of events on which scores will count.
Registrations will close after the Galway Summer Rally.
Competitors who have registered prior to this but cannot qualify ie. Start 4 out of 7 will not be awarded further pts.

ARTICLE THREE
Competitors are required to register for the championship before the start of the first qualifying round that they enter.  Once registered it is not a requirement that you sign on at subsequent rounds.  Drivers and Co-Drivers register and score points on an individual basis.   On applying for registration Competitors agree to be bound by these regulations and any amendments subsequently issued
Priority entries.
The organisers will ensure that the first 3 competitors in classes 2,3,4,6,8,9,12,13,14,15,16.  First 2 competitors in classes 1,5,7 and up to 4th in classes 4,10,11.
First 3 overall competitors receive priority.
Provided, that their entries are in order on the closing date
The onus is on the competitor to inform clubs of their position in the championship when sending in their entry

ARTICLE FOUR - CLASSES
Class 1        Group N up to 1400 cc
Class 2        Group N 1401cc to 1600cc
Class 3        Group N 1601cc to 2000cc
Class 4        Group N over 2000cc
Class 5        Group A up to 1400 cc
Class 6        Group A 1401cc to 1600cc
Class 7        Group A 1601cc to 2000cc
Class 8        Group A over 2000cc
Class 9        Modified cars up to 1450 cc, 2 wheel drive, normally aspirated.
Class 10        Modified cars 1451cc to 1650cc, 2wheel         drive, normally aspirated, with not having                              more than 2 valves per cylinder
Class 11        Modified cars 1451cc to 1650cc, 2 wheel drive, normally aspirated, with more than 2 valves per cylinder
Class 12        Modified cars 1651cc to 2050cc,  2 wheel drive, normally aspirated with not more than 2 valves per cylinder.
Class 13        Modified cars 1651cc to 2050cc, 2 wheel drive, normally aspirated with more than 2 valves per cylinder.
Class 14        Modified cars 2051cc to 3500cc, 2 wheel drive, normally aspirated or turbo charged as per page 29
Class 15        Four Wheel drive whose homologation has expired and other specified cars as per page 29.

Junior Class:    As per MI year book 2009.
DOOR DECALS WILL BE PROVIDED AND MUST BE DISPLAYED ON COMPETITION CARS.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF POINTS.
RESULTS POSTED ON THE PARTICIPATING CLUBS WEBSITES AS LISTED ON THE COVER.


 ARTICLE FIVE    
The Awards for the Championship  will be as follows:
(1)        1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall  
            1st overall to receive the Michael Farrell                     memorial  trophy
    Highest placed Group N
    Highest placed 2 wheel drive.
(2)    1st, 2nd and 3rd in Class
(3)    Team Awards 1st.
(4)    The Pat Dowling memorial Shield will be awarded to the winning co-driver in class 12
(5)    A merit award may be presented at the desecration of the organising committee
Competitors can only win one award in overalls or classes




ARTICLE SIX
Overall points will be awarded to the first twenty registered competitors on each event - 20 points going to highest registered finisher, 19 points to the next highest etc. down to 20th placed registered competitor who will receive 1 point.   In addition, each class will be marked separately with the leading Driver and Co-Driver receiving ten class points, with one point less going to successive places.   Points awarded in one class cannot be transferred to another class.  Ties will be decided in favour of the competitor with the greatest number of wins, and failing this the greatest number of second places etc. until the tie is resolved, if further ties remain they will ultimately be decided on the basis of performance in sequential order of events.  i.e. the first round event will count first and so on.
Competitors excluded from events for breach of technical regulations will be dealt with in accordance with Appendix A of the MI year book.





 
ARTICLE EIGHT
Queries will only be dealt with up to 14 days after publication of TOP PART WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP   results.
Competitors have a right to protest to the MI Championship Stewards in accordance with part XIV of the General competition rules.
